If you would have told me a year ago that I'd be DJ'ing weddings in Tulum, I would have just laughed. Because in 2020, I had sold all my equipment and told myself that it was time to retire. The pandemic had wreaked havoc on the industry. Nightlife was cancelled, as were all my weddings & private events.
I only had one gig left on the calendar – a destination wedding in Tulum.
So I travel down thinking that this is one hell of a last hoorah. The clients & their crew were amazing. The welcome party was out of control, as was the wedding. I had prepped a set that combined NYC club bangers mixed with tribal & latin house for the Tulum flavor. It couldn't have gone any better. I was on cloud 9. As I walked out of the venue, I remember thinking to myself...damn I wish I could do this all the time.
The next day, the wedding planner (@angelinacardenasevents) reached out and said she absolutely loved it. She asked, "What do I have to do to book you for my other clients?" I couldn't believe my ears.
Now, I live in Mexico part-time, DJ'ing weddings & events all over. It's been an amazing experience. Big thanks to the planners and clients that have trusted me with their big days.
Honestly, when it comes to getting married in Tulum, you can't go wrong. Every venue is pretty spectacular. Here are a few that I've performed at...
If you need advice, your wedding planner will likely be your best resource, but I'm happy to give my thoughts as well when we connect.
